2011 Race Summary:
Broad Street Run (May 2011): Pam ran this event as well as several other RTR Team members. It was a beautiful day, with all 35,000 runners enjoying the warm May temperatures. Pam ran the longest she has ever done in a respectable time of just over 2 hours. Tom did not run, due to his recovery from neck surgery.
NJ Devilman (May 2011): RTR Team members Andy Kramer and Elliot Leitman competed in this event which is always a kick-off to the tri state race season. Known as a flat, but windy course, Kramer and Leitman had excellent times and battled a windy day to finish strong.
Philadelphia Triathlon (June 2011): RTR Team members Elliot Leitman, Joshua Sloan, Pam Kramer, Andy Kramer, Bob Pugh, Matt Noone competed in this annual event in our home town. Again the Philly Tri weekend had terrific weather, and a weekend full of great racing on a flat, fast course. Andy Potts won the men’s pro race with a stacked field. All RTR Team members did very well, and Matt Noone placed in the men’s Aqua Bike.
Nations Triathlon, Washington D.C. (September 2011) : Though the swim was cancelled due to bad weather in the preceding weeks, that didn’t stop RTR Team member Matt Noone from placing in the top of his age group and qualifying for the US Age Group Nationals. We are stoked that our fast friend is on his way to compete in 2012 with the uber fast.
Philadelphia Rock n Roll Half Marathon (September 2011): RTR Team member Pam Kramer continues to blow off any sign of a blood cancer, and inspire patients and everyone else by running a personal best 13.1 mile race. She ran a gritty race, enduring the usual pain to finish ahead of her race plan. Pam was the initial inspiration to begin RTR, and her performance will continue to inspire and motivate us to keep on going!

Paris Marathon
UPDATE 4/13/2010: We are back from Paris and had a great time. At the inspiration dinner on Saturday we were able to share my goals of raising awarness on the registry with many other athletes there as a part of TNT. I can tell from web traffic people did look at the site. Finshed healthy, and in a good time, so all is well….
Eagleman Ironman 70.3
UPDATE 6/29/10: Its been a few weeks since this race, but I am not fully recovered and once again training hard. The conditions lived to the reputation: Really hot and very windy. I went into actually looking forward to this, as it is good practice for Kona. The swim was a no wetsuit swim wich I was ok with. I find them tough to wear, and you can’t wear one in Kona! Swim went well, but very slow, seems that everyone was slow due to conditions. On the bike I was able to hold consistent wattage and HR, and finished just under 3 hours, which was my goal. The run was very hot with no shade, but well supported. I heard the heat index was 105. My goal was to run the first 11k, then walk a few steps, then run again and I did this, so I am happy. Overall time was a PR at 6:13, and that’s with some serious time in transition!
Avalon Bay Swim: 2.8 miles: Boy I hope Midge Kerr makes this an annual event. It was an unoffical swim that covered the Avalon Bay from the Avalon Yacht Club. I eally enjoyed swimming with the 30 or so others, and appreciate all the people cheering. I never swam that far in open water, and proves, ANYTHING is possible. Good warmup for Kona Ironman.
Philadelphia Distance Run, Philadelphia, PA - 9/19/2010: This was my first time back at what has now become a major event in the area. Over 20,000 people ran. It was a great day, a bit warm, but again good practice for Kona. I ran a nice easy 2 hours 4 minutes, and then continued on for another 6 or so. Felt great and the CEP compression socks worked great! I also went with the EFS gel flask for the first time and this product is great, worked well for me…ready for the Kona marathon.
Ironman Timberman – 8/22/2010:
Timberman turned out to be another great event. We did this event last year, and though the weather was a bit cold and rainy, we had a great time. Ironman has taken over this race, and you can really tell the difference with the organization etc…It has always been a terrific event, but with Ironman Corp there is just that special “kick” to it. Saturday for the sprint was spectacular weather, a cold start but it got warmer as the morning went on. Pam finished well, and was happy with her result all things considered. The Half Iron on Sunday went ok, though I had some real issues on the bike, I made up for it on the run and finished with the exact same time as last year, so considering I didn’t wear a wetsuit ( which helps in the swim) and I had a slower bike, finishing with the same time was a “win” for me. I suggest this race for anyone considering their first half iron. The entire town comes out to support the event, and the finish line is a great time.
Ford Ironman World Championship- 10/9/2010
Simply put: Awesome.
JDRF – 10/21/2011:
We had a great time at this event, first time event. Tom got 14th overall and 1st in his age group with time of 22 min, and Pam had her best 5K ever….fn day and good cause!
Radnor Run – 5 miles – 10/31/2011.
Great weather and hilly course ! This was a fun run through the main line area of Philly, and we all ran as a family, Pam continues to run even better, and even with that nasty spleen bothering her. She is a true inspiration to anyone with blood cancer! You can do it!
